Emergency Management Intern (Hybrid)

Job Summary

This internship is ideal for someone ready to contribute, learn, and grow in the emergency management field. As the Emergency Management Intern, you’ll support active projects and gain hands-on experience while learning how real-world emergency planning and operations work. You’ll be asked to adapt quickly, stay organized, and write clearly and professionally. No two days will look the same.

You’ll work on a variety of tasks—including plan writing, assessment support, exercises, and outreach—while also helping behind the scenes to keep our internal team and client work on track.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with writing and editing emergency operations plans, assessments, and reports

  • Support exercise development and design (tabletops, drills, and immersive training)

  • Help manage administrative needs, project tracking, and meeting coordination

  • Participate in bleeding control programs and public outreach events

  • Contribute to client-ready materials, templates, and deliverables

  • Collaborate with specialists across our brands (e.g., The Readiness Lab, Impulse)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Health, Homeland Security, Public Administration, or a related field

  • Strong reading and writing skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Willing to learn and use Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, etc.)

  • FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 (or willing to complete prior to start)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pursuing or recently completed a master’s degree in Emergency Management or related field

  • FEMA ICS 300, 400

  • Familiarity with ESRI and ArcGIS platforms

  • In email with your submission, submit the first 50 numbers of pi at the bottom

  • Previous work or volunteer experience in emergency services, planning, or training

Work Environment

  • Hybrid schedule with in-office presence required for meetings and coordination

  • Must be based in or able to regularly report to St. Louis City

  • Occasional travel may be required to support events, trainings, or exercises

  • Flexible hours based on project schedules and intern availability
